We honestly can't go a few weeks without going to the great, grand, grawesome art gallery slash performance space known as pehrspace and luckily we were gift-wrapped this amazing lineup to facilitate any withdrawals we might be having lately, which have been many.
The first time we did a show with Silian Rail was quite an evening. To put it mildly, they crushed everything in their path. So much so, that it pretty much drew the rest of this fantastic lineup together just to play with them. And we can't deny maybe having a teenie-weenie semi-massive crush on guitarist Robin Landy and her insane hybrid picking slash crazy Holdsworth chord voicings. The band is touring down this way with their new album Parhelion (available here), giving Los Angeles the first chance to have the brilliance of "...To Ruins" and "The Many People Never Resting" smashed into our eardrums.
The rest of the lineup is just as exciting. Cue the Moon absolutely slayed the midnight slot they had at the show we presented last year with them at Summer Darling's Spaceland residency. A new album is due in a few months and we're too excited to see an arena-level band playing a closet-sized venue. The Azure Vault are Tim Cooper and Steve Molter from two of LA's most respected post-rock bands Signal Hill and Beware of Safety, respectively. They're working on their debut album and everyone who follows their other bands pretty much knows that it will not suck. Finally, we are proud and honored to present the debut (and perhaps only) show of Vicious Scully, the monstrous duo of Summer Darling's Ben Heywood and Summer Darling producer Sean Foye, cleverly named after one of the greatest voices our town has ever heard, Sir Vin Scully. They quietly leaked their debut album Vices late last year, building an anticipation level for this show that can only be classified as defcon holy shit.
We hope you can make some time out of your busy Friday night to stop by pehrspace, but if not be good, be safe and Coachella is sooo 1999.
