Blowing and Snowing Up Bushels of Fun, Now the Jingle Hop Has Begun

Blowing and Snowing Up Bushels of Fun, Now the Jingle Hop Has Begun
By all accounts, this is going to be one heckuva weekend with many of the scene's best bands coming out for one last hurrah of 2009. If none of these shows interest you then you probably write for Pitchfork. Brooklyn is about 2400 miles east of us.

El Vez hosts his annual Christmas show at the Troubadour. Ho-Ho-Hotel holiday show at the Hotel Cafe. Jon Brion's final regular weekly at g'net. Foreign Born, Best Coast, and El Sportivo and The Blues at Spaceland. Red Cortez, The Growlers, Rademacher, The VLA, and members of The Airborne Toxic Event, The Henry Clay People, Dios Malos, Dusty Rhodes and The River Band all joining together at EVFA to benefit Artists in Aid (the show will also be broadcast live online). KARP Documentary benefit with David Scott Stone, Imaad Wasif, and others at The Smell. Funeral Party, AM, My Pet Saddle, and Gossip Tree at pehrspace. Orgone at The Mint. And Synchronicity Space celebrates their one year anniversary with a Beautiful/Decay book release party.

Sunday, we're presenting an afternoon show at pehrspace (4:30pm) with some wonderful bands so you still have time to go to Mike Watt's 52nd birthday party at The Prospector. 60-Watt Kid, Cobalt Cranes, Moses Campbell, and The Arms at Spaceland. Happy Birthdays to Sir Mike Watt, Matt Eckel (Jack Wilson, Jr.), Marla Sokoloff, Christina Aguilera, and our old friends Alyssa Milano and Jake Gyllenhaal (both of which don't go out to nearly as many shows as they once did).

And to avoid unnecessary mails regarding this post's title, it's from El Vez's version of "Jingle Bell Rock" (video below) and it's referencing the substance we once saw Lindsay Lohan sniffing in the men's bathroom at Cinespace. Happy Holidays!

El Vez - "Jingle Bell Rock" (Live at the Bowery Ballroom, 12/5/09)

The Deadly Syndrome - "I Hope I Become A Ghost"
