Happy belated birthdays to Barbara Gruska (drummer extraordinaire for Obi Best, Jenny Lewis, Electrocute, etc.) and Chris Joyner. Happy birthdays this week to the lovely Sarah Neghadari of the (soon to be signed?) Happy Hollows and Hunter Curra, our 2008 winner of the "Best Smelling Man in the Los Angeles Music Scene" award who also just happens to front one of our favorites The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra.

Tuesday, Miranda Lee Richards ends her Spaceland residency. Ema and the Ghosts, Blake Mills, The Shivers and others at the Silverlake Lounge. Mike Bloom, Whispertown 2000, and others open for AA Bondy at the Hotel Cafe. Reid Speed at Viper. The wonderful Shemekia Copeland celebrates the release of her new record at The Mint... Aushua ends their Knitting Factory residency on Wednesday. Babylan, Anavan and others at Viper. Big Scott Walker tribute night at The Bordello. Daedelus and Nosaj Thing at Low End Theory. The Yelling open for Dead Confederate at Spaceland. Io Echo, Kingsize and others at the Roxy. Schuyler Fisk opens for Ben Taylor at the Troubadour. Sara Silverman at g'net. Thursday, Ariel Pink and Lucky Dragons do the Animal Collective makeup date at the Music Box. HEALTH, Abe Vigoda, and Captain Ahab at The Echo. Sierra Swan and Carina Round at g'net. Ima Robot and We Barbarians play a free show UCLA. Tenacious D play a benefit show for 24th St. Theater at the Club Nokia. David Pajo, Tristeza, The Growlers, and others at The Bordello. Codpiece celebrates the release of the new EP Swiftest of the Big Jungle Cats at The Propector.
