Paint It White, Survives the Day, Prefers the Night

Paint It White, Survives the Day, Prefers the Night
We very much enjoyed hanging out with everyone this week. Death to Anders received a warm welcome to their September residency on Monday. Their new "Enigmatic Market EP" is being sold this month for an amazing 2-for-1 deal with their latest and greatest release Fictitious Business. And we applaud Manhattan Murder Mystery for making the most of the midnight slot dance floor...

Also, good to see so many friends at the Amnion/Aaron Embry & Friends weekly recital at Tangier on Wednesday. We must say this residency has been the highlight of the month our lives. Members of Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Afternoons, Castledoor, Useless Keys, My Imaginary Friends, Billygoat, "Demolisten", and many others clapped and sang along all night long. Those who missed Tenlons Fort's utterly brilliant (no, seriously) opening set can catch them at next week's "Let's Independent". Check out a crazy slash wonderful interview by Radio Free Silverlake. Dirt Bird's first show since the goddess Athena became a Mommy was breathtaking. Meredith Meyer played some lovely new songs off her upcoming record (due in October). And of course Embry made hearts burst from sea to shining sea. Next week should be quite a monster with that lineup.

Finally, special thanks to boxViolet's gear (pictured above) for making last night's show possible at the Unknown. Also, thanks to Seasons for putting together such a good lineup we had to skip out on all the other planned shows. Those other shows can send hate mail to Seasons.

Photos from a few things are probably up by now.

What to do... Knight Rider on "Demolisten" tonight. Everyone's favorite boy of the beach, Brian Wilson, pwns the Hollywood Bowl this weekend. Jason Falkner, Oliver Future, and HoneyHoney at the Roxy. Jenny Lewis early show at The Echo (later, The Strange Boys). Supreme Beings of Leisure and Carmen Rizzo at Echoplex. Infinity, Dogweed, and Voxhaul Broadcast at Spaceland. Quetzal, Upground, and others at Temple Bar. Daniel Ahearn opens for Rob Dickinson. Jon Brion/Dave Palmer (with the lovely Heather Porcaro) at g'Net. And Meho Plaza, Die Rockers Die and others at The Smell... On Saturday, The Smell is shooting a live DVD with HEALTH, The Mae Shi, Anavan, and Foot Village. Inara George and Van Dyke Parks at g'Net. Kristin Hersh's The Shady Circle at McCabe's. Phantom Planet and others at the Music Box. "L.A. Goes Boom" at Gallery 10. Our old friends Bobot Adrenaline celebrate the release of their new album Unfurled at Alex's Bar with Go Betty Go. And the long-awaited return of Nocturnal Wonderland... Terrabyte 3.0 returns to the Arboretum. The Terrapin, Dietra Kruschev, and VOICEsVOICEs at $ucka Free.

Also, everyone wish Downtown/Union's Bo Bory a happy birthday on Saturday!!!
