Los Angeles Needs... A Monday Update

Los Angeles Needs... A Monday Update
Well, that was an eventful weekend. We stopped by 6th St. for a great benefit show on Friday. Proceeds of the show went to Free Arts for Abused Children and what a great event it was going to be. Sharif and Devendra were spinning records when we arrived then as WEAVE! was a few minutes into their set the show got shut down by men in uniform. People quickly dispersed but unfortunately, according to LA Record, that's not where it ended. A donation account has been set up in Dave's behalf. If you've ever enjoyed a night at Dave's warehouse, you should be giving a buck or two right about now... Despite not really being up for F Yeah-ing it this year, we did stop by to see some friends Anavan, Monotonix, Jonah Ray, URTC, 60-Watt Kid, and a few others. We took a few pics of the back of people's heads if you're interested... Later on that night, we hopped on over to pehrspace for Divisadero. We'll be co-presenting their CD release show at pehrspace on 9/19 with Radio Free Silver Lake. Yay... Also, congrats to Monsters Are Waiting on the release of their new EP. We couldn't make it over yonder for the show on Friday but boxViolet has a nice mention.

So September looks fun, right?

September residences are plentiful: Aaron Embry, Lenka, Lion of Panjshir, Dios (Malos), Death to Anders, Daniel Brummel, Carney, My Imaginary Friends, Olin and the Moon, Learning Music... CD release shows include Divisadero, Lenka, Rademacher, Sam Shelton, Tom Freund, The Binges, Marvelous Toy, Writer, Austin Hartley-Leonard, Praying Hands, The Union Line, Dave Yaden, Tic Tic Boom, Saba, Oh Darling, and Lily Wilson... Festivals: Greek Fest (9/5-7), Manifest Destiny (9/7), Campout (9/8), Nocturnal Wonderland (9/13), Harvest Moon (9/14), Lobster Festival (9/19-21), We the People (9/27).

Also, Priscilla Ahn appears on Craig Ferguson tonight.

In other news: Voting for Detour Festival's BYOB has begun with a few of our favorites in the running. Good luck to all the nominees... Eagle Rock Music Festival is shaping up to be a big one with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Parson Red Heads, Earlimart, Abe Vigoda, Mika Miko, Radar Bros., Emily Wells, The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra, Cobra Lilies, Pizza!, and others many others so far confirmed.
