Los Angeles Needs... A Wednesday Update

Los Angeles Needs... A Wednesday Update
Congrats are in order to Le Switch on the release of their new album, due 9/30 on Autumn Tone. And to "Let's Independent" on two years of hosting great shows.

Other news: Videothing posted their video of our May "First Fridays" show with The Underground Railroad to Candyland, Pizza!, and The Monolators... TATE has a nice interview and live video at LiveDaily Sessions... Hotel Cafe Tour fall edition kicks off in October with Rachael Yamagata, Ingrid Michaelson, Priscilla Ahn, Meiko, Catherine Feeny, Lenka, Kate Havnevik, Thao Nguyen, Emily Wells, Jaymay, Brooke Fraser, Samantha Crain, Erin McCarley, Katie Herzig, Jenny Owen Youngs, Anya Marina, and Holly Conlan. The tour concludes in Los Angeles at the Music Box on 11/18. Presale tix now available... Everest will be heading out on a fall tour opening for Neil Young and Death Cab For Cutie, stopping in L.A. at the Forum on 10/30. Before that, the band will head out on a quick West Coast tour with The Parson Red Heads... HEALTH opens for Of Montreal at the Hollywood Palladium on 11/22... Everybody Else is set to head out on tour with Hanson in September toting with them their new acoustic album and EP... Pop Noir has replaced Casxio in tonight's lineup at Moscow, which is happening at Safari Sam's and not Boardner's (just for tonight's show)... Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos Los Angeles qualifiers is 8/22 at 740. Winner of the Latin hip-hop MC battle event will compete in the finals, which will be held 10/3 at the Pico Rivera Sports Arena... Out of all the widespread talent in Los Angeles, Rolling Stone picked up Low vs. Diamond as one of their "Artists to Watch for 2008". Interesting. Other artists include Lykke Li, Ra Ra Riot, Laura Izibor, 3OH!3, and Dead Confederate. Incidentally, we traveled to see Laura Izibor showcase in London a few years ago (with a then more stable Amy Winehouse) and after listening to recent recordings and seeing her showcase in town recently it seems she's been over-A&R'd to the point of losing all the originality and feel she once had. Too bad... Kanye West is confirmed to play L.A.'s chapter of Nike's Human Race, a global community event bringing 25 cities together in a synchronized 10k run. We'll be participating in the run -- completely decked out in Adidas of course... They were probably listening to Good Charlotte so it's justified.
Comments:
I don't see the Palladium being open by 11/22. Kooks tix never went on sale for their show on 11/27...hope Of Montreal still happens though.
