Los Angeles Needs... A Wednesday Update

Los Angeles Needs... A Wednesday Update
Congrats to Sean Carnage for three years of utter greatness. What a show on Monday. He's had some of our favorite bands play his nights over the past few years, but truly the best part of a Sean Carnage evening is the uninhibited, girl-on-boy/girl-on-girl/boy-on-boy/boy-on-piñata free-for-all art of dancing. So while other clubs on Monday are winding down with patrons yawning at the midnight hour, pehrspace is still filled with youngsters raving until 2am to 90's dance idols La Bouche, 2 Unlimited, and Amber (like the picture above). Even the occasional Silver Lake straight-arrow hipster will wander in and feel compelled to grind to those cheesy 90's happy hardcore hits that DJ Kyle H. Mabson unleashes. They can't help it. It's the Carnage effect. LA Weekly did a write-up. And we posted some photos.

We also stopped by the Silverlake Lounge and Spaceland on Monday. Huge, great crowds at both venues. Expect even bigger crowds for the lineups ahead.

We'll be stopping by the The Blood Arm and The Muslims' show tonight at The Echo to do the hand jive, the mashed potato, and some other moves we've been practicing for the last couple of weeks in prep for this show.

In other news: Weezer recently announced their tour with Angels and Airwaves and Tokyo Police Club. The tour hits Los Angeles on 10/14 at The Forum... We forgot to mention in that last Monday update thing that My Ruin is also celebrating the release of their new album/DVD Throat Full Of Heart on 8/15 at the Whisky... The Pretenders are doing a Yahoo! sponsored secret show on Monday (8/11) as part of the Nissan Live Sets series. First 200 emailers get in.
