Los Angeles Needs... A Monday Update

Los Angeles Needs... A Monday Update
We might have underestimated Friday's show at Mr. T's Bowl just a touch. What a night. Congrats to The Mormons on their 10th year of being one of L.A.'s best punk bands as well as remaining true to the scene since the very beginning. The new band and new songs sounded great and we very much look forward to the next mobile unit show crash. And farewell to 8-bit who played their final show in front of hundreds of their most hardcore fans (seen above). Banned from almost every club in town at some point in their career, they brought it back home to T's for one last hurrah. The group also performed live on "Demolisten" on Friday and if you missed it you really need to watch that hilarious shit... Also, another sad farewell to Cafe Mariposa which held its last show on Saturday with Seasons and others... On a much happier note, welcome home (sort of) to Catherine Feeny who played her first show in Los Angeles on Saturday since moving back to the U.S. It had been roughly six years since we last saw a full set from the former Angeleno. She's now living up in Portland after spending the last few years in England gaining wonderful success with her debut album... Saturday, was also the launch party of a new warehouse art/performance space called BOXeight. Lots of people were out for this and hopefully this means more shows out of the conventional club scene. By the way, we just missed that huge intersection crash on Central on the way there. Hopefully no one got hurt... Finally, Otik Records presented a wonderful showcase last night with HoneyHoney, The Sweet Hurt, The Mind Blasters, and Liz Pappademas. Otik has been putting on these bi-weekly nights for a few months giving the South Bay a chance to see some of L.A.'s best bands. Had to leave a bit early to check out some stuff down in the LBC for a band who canceled their Saturday show last minute on us. You know who you are...

We'll be out to see the Monday residencies tonight again (they're soo good this month)... On Tuesday, Le Switch celebrates the release of their new album And Now...
