Count Your Casualties So Clever, Nothing Stays Buried Forever

Count Your Casualities So Clever, Nothing Stays Buried Forever
What a thoroughly enjoyable week. Congrats to Inara George on the release of her new lovely album. Be sure to pick up a copy at your local retailer... Indian Jewelry, Hecuba, and We Are the World blew us away on Monday. Thanks to Club Donuts! for putting on such a great party and of course for all the sweet donuts. L.A. Record did a proper review... Stopped by four phenomenal shows downtown on Wednesday with Boom Bip at La Cita; Army Navy/Miniature Tigers/Eastern Conference Champions at Redwood; Evangelista playing a last-minute warm-up show at The Smell; and The Polyamorous Affair and Odd Modern at The Bordello. Thanks to all the bands for all playing conveniently within walking distance, on the same street no less. Some pics up yo.

Tonight, tune into "Demolisten" to hear 8-bit crunk it up and then later head out to Mr. T's Bowl for The Mormons 10th Anniversary show. This show will be bringing HLP's elite out of hibernation and we predict absolute effing chaos. Elsewhere, My Ruin celebrates the release of their new album Throat Full Of Heart at the Whisky. The Starlite Desperation celebrates the release of their new album Take It Personally at the Redwood. Flying Lotus signs autogaphs at Amoeba. Benji Hughes begins two nights at El Cid. Spindrift, Crooked Cowboy, and the Duchess and the Duke at Spaceland. Pop Levi and The Parson Red Heads at The Echo. Shiloe and others at pehrspace. Hearts of Palm UK, Fascinoma, and others at Echo Curio. Jon Brion/Dave Palmer at g'Net. Greg Laswell residency at the Hotel Cafe. And Haim with friends at The Smell... Saturday is a busy one: Natasha Shneider benefit commemoration with QOTSA, PJ Harvey, and many others at the Music Box. Blow Up LA celebrates two years at 613. Punk jazz legends Saccharine Trust at McCabe's. Katy Perry and The Airborne Toxic Event at Six Flags. Catherine Feeny, Blondfire, and others at the Hotel Cafe. Heather Reid at g'Net. Kim Fowley's "Hollywood Sexual Underground" at the Redwood. The Muslims, Pizza!, Gangi, and Amanda Jo Williams at Spaceland. Jesus Makes the Shotgun Sound, ExitMusic, VOICEsVOICEs, and Ars Poetria at L'Keg. Not to mention the return of Jujubeats, whose name alone should be making old school ravers pee in their pants. Also, one of L.A's best annual week-long festivals Nisei Week kicks off... On Sunday, Obi Best continues their Tangier residency. HoneyHoney, The Sweet Hurt, Liz Pappademas, and The Mind Blasters at Saint Rocke. Jesus Makes the Shotgun Sound, ExitMusic and Dietra Kruschev at Que Sera. And Suki Ewers celebrates the release of her new album Kind of Hazy at PTP.

Raise your hand if you've cried at least once during these Olympics. Damn you absurdly athletic people. And will someone let us know when the Phelps or Shawn Johnson Wheaties box comes out? Seriously.
