Truly, the best part about business trips is coming back home, especially those last few moments before landing as you descend westward, running parallel with the 105, across the busy rush hour traffic and there she is below you... It's good to be back, Los Angeles.
Perfect timing since there's so much to do this weekend. There's a benefit at Little Radio tonight for a film documenting the rebuilding of New Orleans. Some of the all-star lineup includes The Movies, The Henry Clay People, Emma Burgess, Le Switch, The Submarines, and others. Elsewhere, Fool's Gold Tour hits Hollywood at the Roxy with A-Trak, Mehdi, Kid Sister, Kavinsky, and others. Also, for a little bit of culture The Royal Shakespeare Company is in town at Royce Hall for a special limited engagement featuring productions of "King Lear" and "The Seagull" with The Sir Ian McKellen in select roles... On Saturday, SSPU, Midnight Movies, and The Happy Hollows make it to the big time with a huge show at the Wiltern. Over at Tangier, the lovely Holly Palmer performs at Tangier. Safari Sam's hosts Tigermask with performances by The Warlocks, Lords of Altamont, and others... And, on Sunday, we hope you would make an effort to go to Mr. T's Bowl but if Bodies of Water opening for The Go! Team or Jail Weddings and Devon Williams is more your thing we understand. And we shouldn't forget that DJ Vadim returns to L.A. after a long time away with new fantastic record in hand.
Also, Castledoor is on one of their first west coast getaways in over a year. Go see them. They have new songs to share with you.
