We certainly need a good weekend of things to do that don't involve being engulfed in flames and covered in soot and ash, yes?
There's a bunch of Halloween shows this weekend but don't let getting dressed up in Jack Sparrow attire hold you back from checking out some bands. Monsters Are Waiting plays a show after a few months not playing a show at Club Underground with War Tapes. Funeral Party, A For Attack, and Love Grenades perform at a Halloween party downtown while Uh Huh Her perform at the Knitting Factory... Van Buuren, Jules, Housecat, Digitalism, and others headline this year's Monster Massive which unleashes four area madness at the Sports Arena on Saturday. The Donnas and Donita Sparks rock the Roxy. And over at The Troubadour, Airborne Toxic Event opens for 1990s. For quieter times, John Doe plays an intimate gig at McCabe's and Richard Buckner and David Dondero sing songs at Spaceland... For Sunday, we'll be getting dressed up to hang out at the Kodak for the Tribute to Herbie Hancock featuring performances by Sting, Joni Mitchell, Chaka Khan, Terence Blanchard, George Duke, and many others we're excited to see again. If you don't feel like getting dressed up, Final Fantasy is at the Troubadour and The One AM Radio is back with Tara Busch at Tangier.
