Los Angeles Needs... A Monday Update
We're getting to that point where people start counting down the last days of 2007. Like this is the last week of October, which is the last time you can buy 85 pounds of candy at Costco without getting weird looks and is also the last time you'll have an excuse to wear your Hannah Montana costume until 2am (ok, maybe New Year's too). It's also perhaps the last time you'll see Castledoor, Oliver Future, Aushua, and The Mulhollands play for zilch. It also may be the last opportunity you'll ever see Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Neil Young, Thurston Moore, The Pogues, and DJ Krush in the same week. We also present one of our last shows of the year this Friday.

And what of Halloween Night? RI and RFSL are hosting a big night at All Star featuring performances by The Henry Clay People, Radars to the Sky, The Monolators, The Natural Disasters, Service Group, Downtown/Union, and The Fresas. The Deadly Syndrome play their first show in over a month at Spaceland. Medusa and Black Bird put the hip-hop in Halloween at the Temple Bar. Low End Theory brings it with L.A Record cover boy Daedelus and Themselves breaking records. Cypress Hill lights up at the House of Blues and his unholiness Danzig flexes biceps over at the Greek.

In other news: Country legend Porter Wagoner passed away over the weekend. He recently released a brilliant new album and performed with Marty Stuart at Safari Sam's over the summer, which was covered beautifully by Morris from Watusi Radio... Great Northern's new EP Sleepy Eepy out 11/6 digitally (cd release in February)... Look for an insert called Movie Rock in certain magazines of Condé Nast publications (Vogue, Details, Vanity Fair, Lucky, etc.). The supplemental section will apparently be all about the Los Angeles music scene, according to celebrities. Uhhhboy... Great article on The Deadly Syndrome, Castledoor, and TATE by Bronson... The Like began work on their second album this week in London. Read what Ms. Annie gave them as a good luck gift... Sea Wolf's sold out show at the Troubadour on 11/29 has been cancelled. Los Campesinos! show on 11/27 has been moved to The Echo and From Monument To Masses 11/28 show has been moved to Safari Sam's. This is all to make way for four consecutive nights of you know who...

Finally, here's a bit of candy for you trick or treaters. Be safe, kids.

Thurston Moore - "Off Work" (Live at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY (9/26/07)
Comments:
That's some purdy sweet candy.
