Los Angeles Needs... A Monday Update
Fire is all around us. Be safe, Los Angeles.

Apart from the flames and high-wind warnings, we thoroughly enjoyed seeing so much great stuff this weekend. One highlight was obviously that great all-L.A. lineup selling out the Wiltern on Saturday. As big as SSPU has gotten, Aubert and Monninger have always been huge supporters of this scene and allowing some of their favorite local bands to open is a testament to that. We hadn't seen MM in a few years so that was good and HH shaking off some nerves still killed it. Our little show at T's on Sunday was also very special to us. We predict they'll be selling out big venues someday soon too...

As for this week, we think everyone should be out tonight to see the great lineup Castledoor put together at the Echo; or I Make This Sound and Rademacher at Viper; or Summer Darling, Aushua and ECC at SLL; or Sunday Drivers at Sam's... Tuesday, Joe's "Let's Independent" with Light FM and others should be good unless you've already got tickets for JMC/BRMC or TPC at the El Rey... On Wednesday, the busiest night of the month has about twenty shows worth going to with Mum, Melvins, Sia, Kelly Willis, Blackalicious, and many other touring bands coming through... And, on Thursday, go meet The Nick Hornby at Book Soup but don't waste a west side visit and check a bit of the Sex Pistols show at the Roxy before heading over to The Wiltern (Autolux/Blonde Redhead) before finishing off the night with some late late shows in Orange County and Long Beach... well, that's the plan anyway.

Keep away from fire. Go to local band shows.

I have a feeling that Let's Independent is gonna be great...
