Very busy tonight with Rilo Kiley and Bird and the Bee at ths SM Civic; Black Francis at Safari Sam's; Castledoor, Hearts of Palm UK, and Princeton at the Echo; Aushua and Venus Infers at the SLL; Monster and Kind Hearts and Coronets at the Bordello; The Mae Shi and Xu Xu Fang at Viper; PJ Harvey at the Orpheum; Sarah Silverman at Largo; and lots of other stuff you'll probably miss because you're just way too into "Heroes"... Our old friend Tom Brosseau celebrates the release of his new album Cavalier at Largo on 10/16. Also, that night, Devon Sproule and Paul Curreri pay us another rare visit opening for Priscilla Ahn... On Wednesday, The Subways return to Spaceland. And Dave Palmer continues his awesome monthlies at Largo (we wonder if anybody has gotten the clue that Fiona Apple sings with him every night?)... Thursday's highlight is a great benefit for artist Kime Buzzelli at The Echo with performances by Lavender Diamond, Winter Flowers, Entrance, and others. Also, The Parson Red Heads kick off their west coast tour at Spaceland.
Speaking of west coast tours, look for a lot less traffic on the 101 while The Parson Red Heads and Bodies of Water and all their 10,000 members are off doing separate west coast tours. Great Northern also head out on tour with Robbers On High Street and Gliss has been on tour the last few weeks. The band has been awesome about updating their blog nearly every day while on tour. We wish more bands did this and did so with as much fun and folly... Finally, just a heads up for Sunday's show at Mr. T's Bowl. We'll post about it later this week but you should go.
In other news: Dangerbird Records recently launched their new site with some treasures you should download... Read how John Wiese causes Becky Stark to have diarrhea... Speaking of diarrhea, LAist shoots the shit with Brother Reade. Speaking of shooting the shit, there's entirely too much Shiite-on-Shiite violence happening in the world.
Seriously, though, we love you.
