Los Angeles Needs... A Monday Update
Yo... What's up?.. Nothing, just calling to see what's up... What'd you do this weekend?.. Really? I didn't see you... Just a few bands... Jay Reatard... Mae Shi, damn, forgot how good they are... Moonrats killed... Devon... Jonah... Yeah, crowded, I know... Not too long. Went over to Terrabyte... Yeah, Tycho rules... Test Shot Starfish? Totally incredible... Anyway... Ok, so I gotta get back to work... Yeah, the boss is coming... Seriously, I'm hanging up... What are you doing tonight?...

Another busy week ahead of us, Los Angeles... The Section Quartet CD release show tonight (another one?) at the Troubadour with very special guests. Monday residencies end with I Make This Sound, Low Vs. Diamond, Manic, and Crash Kings. Meiko, The Finches, The Mormons, and Maxeen's respective Tuesday residencies end tomorrow. And Black Palms' Wednesday residency at Moscow will finish off its run. If you haven't made it out to any of these nights we're sure you have a good reason... Tenlons Fort/David Israel tour finale at Tangier on Tuesday... Wilco and former local boy Richard Swift at the Greek Theatre on Wednesday... Kronos Quartet perform a free Grand Performances show at California Plaza on 8/30. Later on that night, go see Deadly Syndrome, Let's Go Sailing, and others at the Roxy.

In other news: Read about Gram Rabbit's new album RadioAngel and the RoboBeat (due 11/13)... Read what Seattle thinks or our beloved Earlimart and Patrick Park... Read about Mika Miko's recent visit to D.C.... Read about Lucinda Williams' upcoming 5-night/5-album live performance recording at the El Rey... Read about where The Airborne Toxic Event practices their two-step.
