Los Angeles Needs... A Monday Update

We frankly loathe the expression, but someone recently called this week "the cat's tits" -- someone being our friend's 13-year-old nephew, recently being 15 minutes ago. We have no idea where this saying came from and the kid is obviously using it wrong but if a week needed to be compared to kittie titties this would be it.

Our schedule is kittie littered with must-see slash must-attend art exhibit openings, cd release shows, industry showcases, long-awaited comeback shows, in-stores, meet & greets, comedy nights, house parties, open mic nights, dj battles, mc battles, baby rattles, fiddle faddle, and we haven't even discussed Frick Yeah Fest this weekend. But let's just keep things simple...

We'll be at a few of the residencies tonight to see some of you. But Low Vs. Diamond's Spaceland residency seems to be where everyone has been heading this month. It got too crowded for us last week so we left after Sunday Drivers who have gotten so good we need to be dating them soon... Earlimart returns to "Morning Becomes Eclectic" on Tuesday then celebrates the Eastside release of their new, great album Mentor Tormentor at the Rec Center with The Parson Red Heads and The Pity Party. One or two photos from Friday's Westside release can be found over yonder... Meanwhile, over at The Echo, Foreign Born celebrates their long-awaited CD release with In Waves and Nevenka. The no in's-and-out's for those release shows will make it difficult for us to go back and forth but we'll wing it... The Like return to the stage after nearly a century of writing for their new record. They play at Cinespace Tuesday night... Also on Tuesday, David Lynch is doing a DVD signing for Inland Empire at 2PM at the Grove Barnes & Noble. That movie was pretty great, by the way, and very much worth being a fanboy/fangirl for a few seconds to have it signed by the genius that is Lynch... Sit tight, we're still on Tuesday... The brilliance that is Radio8Ball makes its Los Angeles debut with two shows at the Hayworth presenting Jon Auer on Tuesday and Mirah on Wednesday. Those are going to be fun... Ok, now Wednesday... Ferraby Lionheart tapes his segment of the "Late Late Show" which will air Friday. By the way, his scheduled CD release show at Bordello has been cancelled due to his recent booking on the Brunettes tour so we'll call his Hotel Cafe show a few weeks ago the release show, especially because we were there and especially especially because it was pretty fantastic... Yeah Yeah Yeahs at the Mayan which we can sort of call a local band show now that Karen O. is a part-time Angeleno... Ok, we're getting tired... Thursday, that blog show everyone's talking about... Friday, blah blah blah...

Finally, as you might have noticed, this feature has kind of turned itself into a weekly band classifieds section... which we love. If you don't join these bands we will and no wants that. Hit them up on MySpace for more details...

MERE MORTALS
Established indie-rockband needs a new drummer. Must be ready to tour. Primal Scream, Spiritualized, BRMC, T. Rex, Kasabian, Nico, Jesus and Mary Chain, NEU!, early Oasis, Lennon, Lydon, paisley Underground. We're creative, easy-going, and on the radar with good local and international press, nationwide airplay, TV placements, great shows. Please respond with an mp3 and a pic.

SPACE MTN
Looking for a man guitarist.

TENLONS FORT
After four months Tenlons Fort is tired and bored with crying into a microphone alone. Looking for musicians to tap into the new excitement. There are pop songs being written and for the joy of playing them, Tenlons Fort wants to be a band again. Looking for drums keyboards, bass, xylophone, guitar, cello, violin. In no particular order. No flakes, or as my friend said, no junkies. Looking to play Los Angeles shows and beyond. The dream of traveling the world with music is a must. Where is He Working? Where is He Working? Where is He Working? Where is He?

AMNION
Various kind musicians and singers.

HT HEARTACHE
