Los Angeles Loves... The Rock Inside Her

In truth, we don't read music blogs too much. But we do take notice of those who are making a difference in the scene and that's certainly what Ms. Ashley does with the lovely Rock Insider. It took her a bit to figure out the scene is more east than west (read the first line of her first post), but we all have to start somewhere. And, of course, all those MP3s and other goodies for the kids. We've been told she works for a major record label, but we won't hold that against her especially after she was able to showcase Ferraby and Jaymay a few weeks ago, something we've been meaning to do for quite awhile. For your added pleasure, you'll also find her DJing on Little Radio on Mondays at noon or catch her behind the deckz for realz on her Hell Ya! nights at the Echo. So if you want to see how music blogging is supposed to be done, delete your bookmark for us and make your homepage Rock Insider.

pretty cool blog. thanks.

Damn, you're the most completely selfless blog in the history of selfless blogs. You're definitely going to blog heaven.

P.S. Do a review of my blog, dammit!

her blog is actually better than this one

yeah, and her dad can beat up your dad.

RockInsider is a virtual fluff space for her day job. Possibly one and the same.

If I'm totally off base, then why hide the fact that she is the Director of New Media (or something close to that) for the record label she works for?

Again, the label pulling the strings through the front of a cute little non-westside indie girl may be incorrect, but without full-disclosure such things need to be asked.

to answer the anonymous commentors questions:

a.) Im a coordinator - not a director. Which means I sit in a cubicle directly in front of the fuse box and work 16 hr days doing content maintenence and updating myspace pages. I dont sit in a fancy office surrounded by platinum records contemplating my next dubious blog takeover. I share a 1 bedroom apt in echo park with a cactus filled swimming pool.

b.) I am all for full disclosure - when it's applicable. I started rock insider to talk about the los angeles music scene and the bands I personally liked. some of those bands happen to be on the label I work for. There is no fluff posted on my site. I have downright REFUSED to post things.

When I start a blog about the inner workings of the music industry - the yes it would be applicable - but Rock Insider operates slightly above a J-14 and tiger beat. If we're talking full disclosure here it better include sufjan stevens shirtless (ok take a moment and relish just how HOT that would be).

Finally, may I remind you: It's just a friggin' BLOG. Its my personal diary. Its my outlook on music, love, and life. the day rock insider has corporate strings attached is the day it will cease to exist.

blogging is 0% my day job and certainly not one in the same. I soo wish it was my day job.

i like both blogs.
