Well, lookie what we have here. Correatown and Daniel Ahearn & The Jones are releasing a new split 7" on Tuesday and we've been given the "oh soooo" difficult task of presenting the show that will likely make that little gathering in Project X look like a tea party. Not only are Angela Correa, Daniel Ahearn, and Mindy Jones three of L.A.'s most revered/respected/re-dorable artists in town but they're also three of our most beloved friends of the scene. In the many years we've known them, we've never heard one bad song in their repertoire and this 7" is no exception -- in fact, they could very well be two of their best. Correatown's "Meridians" is by far her most melodically explosive song since she transitioned from a solo singer-songwriter to a guitar-rock band. And even if you can't hit those high notes like she can, that chorus is still ridiculously addictive to sing along to. If that wasn't enough sugar for one 45, Ahearn and Jones's sweetly catchy "Youth On Your Side" is its perfect companion piece with Ahearn's signature pure vocal and sage-like musings. If you need more reason to love them, you really should check out our recent interviews with DA&TJ.
So it is with great pleasure that we present this 7" release show that will also serve as a pre-SXSW soiree. Also playing are Haroula Rose (who just leaked out a fantastic Hood Internet remix of her song "Lavender Moon") and Fleeting Heart (the new project from Kathleen Grace and Erik Kertes), both of whom we've been wanting to do a show with for quite some time. There will food, drink, and plenty of PDA to go around so please stop by if you can.
