It was a June gloomy afternoon when we received a nice email from Philly punk duo SLUTEVER about setting up a show and within a few days the date had been set at our beloved pehrspace. Seems fitting to have another summer soiree at the venue that's celebrating five years of strip mall awesomeness this year and we're lucky to bring such a lineup for the evening...
SLUTEVER brings their Spector-fi'd grrl punk to Los Angeles for the first time this week and we couldn't be more happy to sit courtside for this one. They recently released their new "Pretend To Be Nice" 7" and are summer vacationing it across the country to rock the great U.S.A. so you'd better be there. You might also want to be there to see the greatness that is Peter Pants whose fun chanty punk is just what L.A. was needing after the departure of Mika Miko. It's also recommended that you pick up their new under-appreciated record Handsome Women here so you won't be the only one not singing along to "Bubblegum" and "Streets or No Streets" (and you wouldn't want that). Just the mere mention of Allison Wolfe should be having hardcore Bratmobile fans popping tents for her new band Cool Moms -- and we do mean the ones you'll be camped out in outside of pehrspace. Yet another inspiring new project from those lovable kids Your Mom/Your Dad aka Excelsior and Arial Lily aka Eli and Mary motherfuckin Monolator.

The wonderful indie folk duo of I Hate You Just Kidding celebrates the release of their new record Days Grow Longer on Saturday at pehrspace. It's the perfect hazy, summery title to this perfectly listless, sunny album with songs that seamlessly slo-fi into Lee Hazlewood territory 60's pop (our favorite song "Some Things Never Change") then freefalls into ambient electronic indie-pop (our other favorite song "Tout Casse"). To get straight to the frickin' point, even if you don't come to the show on Saturday (which would be a mistake) you'll need to get this record right away (available here).
Joining them will be three of their closest musical friends Nicole Vaughn, Tall Tales and The Silver Lining, and Sofa City Sweetheart. Hope to see you there.
