Los Angeles Loves... Untitled

Los Angeles Loves... Untitled
We are very pleased to be coming out of hiding to present a rather fine lineup (if we do say so ourselves) of music for the city of Los Angeles.

I Hate You Just Kidding recently released their debut EP entitled "Untitled" (available on iTunes) and are looking to party it up in Los Angeles. They already celebrated its release down in their Costa Mesa headquarters at Detroit Bar a few weeks back. The EP is nearly flawless indie-duo pop folk and therefore comes with all the usual descriptors like cute, charming, and adorable -- all of which pretty much sums up why we love'em. So if the gentle sweetness of Azure Ray, Sara Lov, and Hope Sandoval warm your heart as much they do ours then it might be a good idea to be at pehrspace on Friday. We should also mention that we didn't just choose 9/17 for none good reason. It's also IHYJK's Jessi Fulghum's birthday so bring a few huggifts to the show.

Joining them on this special evening will be our good friends Alex & Sam who recently released their debut full-length The Dreamer (available on iTunes). They have a sound so identifiably their own that we can only pull out Zevon, Simon, or any one of the Croce's as a comparison and that's a good thing. The band's been fairly low-key in the last year with Silverman off doing tours with Eagle and Talon, Rachael Cantu, and others as well spending some time in the studio producing, so one-off super-intimate engagements like this mean all the more to us.

Everyone should know by now that Daniel Ahearn is one of the finest singer-songwriters this town will ever have the privilege of seeing in our own backyard. He's the everyday man we wish we could be. The kind of guy you might see in line at the grocery store with a value pack of diapers in one hand and a small bouquet of daisies in the other. You know, one of those "life is good" kind of guys. Not only that but he just so happens to write some of the best pop folk songs around. A new record is coming out soon and songs from that record will likely be played on this night with probably a few of his ol' time hits.

Nicole Vaughn might be the best new "Hotel Cafe" artist of the year -- that hasn't played the Hotel Cafe. True, our new O.C. crush of 2010 has only a handful of shows under her belt, but mark our words she's the area's next big thing if she plays her cards right. Her self-released album Walk into the Night was one of the surprise under-the-radar albums of 2009 (available here) and her audience is building with every show. Schuyler, Kina, and all the rest of'em... you have company. In any case, we do believe this is her first show in this here parts so let's make her feel welcome.

As with most of our pehrspace shindigs, we'll be laying out free food and beverage to satiate any grumbling stomachs. Please come early and stay late. This is a good one through and through.

Los Angeles Loves... A Spirit Vine September

Los Angeles Loves... Spirit Vine
We've been asked by those siren-led psych-rockers Spirit Vine to help with their Friday residency at Five Stars Bar this month. Perfect timing, since it's been two years to the month since we last dated. This summer-ending tenure also features some of the band's besties from the L.A. scene including The Pity Party, Jesus Makes the Shotgun Sound, Wet & Reckless, Robotanists, Seasons, Cigarette Bums, Hexham Heads, Spider Problem, Manhattan Murder Mystery, and more. And given the band has been prepping the follow-up to their "Golden" EP (available here) in recent months, we'll have the added the pleasure of hearing quite a few new songs all month long.

Hear Gallery, IPromoteGoodBands, Shadowscene, Get Your Rocks Off, Hang The DJs, and us present:
